"How do I get rid of this anger, Lisa?"

What I said next surprised her.

"The anger is there for a reason. Listen to it, learn from it, use it as fuel."

My client was frustrated that she was undervalued, underutilized and over-managed.

Instead of doing what we often default to - dismissing, avoiding or distracting ourselves from "negative" feelings - I told her to sit with the anger and get curious.

What she discovered guided us through a solid plan to strengthen her personal authority and elevate her influence.

She was promoted within the year.

Calmly noticing what's happening and responding with intention is the foundation of self-respect and self-assurance and the key to staying in the driver's seat of your life and career.

That's leadership, and people will sit up and take notice.
