Worried your manager thinks you're in over your head? Wondering if you really belong at the leadership table? Try this simple confidence-boosting habit.

Tracking your wins.

When you step into a bigger role, your brain is looking for proof that you belong there. Without evidence, the old stories—"I'm not ready," "I got lucky," "I don't belong"—stay in charge.

So you need to deliberately collect data: compliments received, problems solved, support offered, ideas advanced.

You'll think it doesn't matter. You'll think you don't have time.

Do it anyway.

Your brain needs to see patterns that contradict the old narrative. Weekly is good, daily is better. Daily tracking creates the repetition that rewires your identity.

This isn't about ego or vanity. It's about giving yourself the same objective view of your performance that you'd give a team member you're developing.

Most people don't do this, and it keeps them stuck in identity jet lag for months or even years.

What evidence are you gathering today that you're exactly where you're supposed to be?
